Webshop till you drop

For a real shopaholic like me, this aspect of ICT can of course not be left out in these blogs.

While the snow keeps falling down outside, I am spoiling myself once again by visiting the wonderful webshop of the H&M and inviting some more dresses to come and live in my already overloaded closet. Webshops appear to be extremely bad for our wallet but good for our mood. They do not take up much of our extremely valuable time and do not ask of us to beat the icy weather on a cold snowy day in February. Furthermore, webshops are known to provide us with more products and greater search functions than an average messy real life shop.

Despite of the fact nowadays nearly all shops also have an online store, the quality of these virtual shopping heavens varies a lot. Some send the products to you without any costs, offer nice discounts, and have a clear structured website with proper information and search functions while others have limited their online possibilities to a minimum. Since webshops are used extensively by everybody, it is likely that the quality of the websites will be improved in the future to increase sales. The big question is of course, will the quality of webshops ever overextend the quality of real life shopping and erase these brick stores from our society?

Me myself, I don’t think this will ever happen. I, and with me probably a lot of more people, simply enjoy the looking through a real shop too much. It’s ambiance, the victory of finding the last it-shirt in your size and of course the pride of walking the streets with your new gains in big plastic bags.. It is romance in its purest form ;-) Therefore I desperately believe and hope the ‘webshop till you drop’ will never fully replace the original ‘shop till you drop'.

Oh and one last comment while I am waiting for my new h&m dress; it is really annoying and distressing to have to wait another week before actually owning what you just bought!!
